Power Engineer - Microgrids & Energy Systems
About Eonnora Research and Development
Eonnora Research and Development is the clean energy research and development arm of the Singapore-based Eonnora Group. A joint R&D program has been established together with Windside - a pioneer in vertical-axis wind power technology - focused on micro and nano grid solutions — standalone and grid-connected — built around Windside’s wind power systems, battery storage, and integrated power electronics. As a part of this team, you will take products from concept through design, prototyping, testing, and preparation for manufacturing, supporting deployments in Singapore, India, and other international markets.
About the Role
You will be the lead engineer for power systems in the joint R&D programme: designing micro/nano grids that integrate Windside wind power, battery energy storage, and inverters, and supporting the establishment of motor manufacturing in Singapore. The role spans system architecture, component specification, testing, and manufacturing readiness.
- Design standalone and grid-connected micro/nano grid architectures, including generation sizing, energy storage sizing, and load management
- Specify, evaluate, and integrate generators, battery systems (BESS), inverters, charge controllers, and protection equipment
- Lead electrical network studies: load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and power quality for small grids
- Support the design and industrialisation of electric motors and generators — windings, magnetics, insulation systems, testing, and quality processes — in collaboration with the planned Singapore motor production facility
- Develop test plans and lead lab and field testing of integrated systems
- Contribute to joint R&D outputs, including documentation of new designs and IP
- Liaise with utilities, component suppliers, and certification bodies
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical/Power Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years of experience across electric networks, generators, battery systems, and power electronics (inverters/converters)
- Direct exposure to the manufacturing of electric motors or related electromechanical products
- Experience designing or commissioning off-grid, hybrid, or microgrid power systems
- Proficiency with power system tools (e.g. ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, HOMER, or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with renewable integration (wind/solar) and EV charging systems
- Familiarity with IEC standards for low-voltage installations, BESS, and grid interconnection; awareness of EMA requirements in Singapore
- Experience setting up or scaling a production line for motors, inverters, or similar products
